Company performed more than 250 total test cases including more than 160 SON tests with greater than 94% success rates
NAPLES, Italy – July 19, 2016 – AirHop Communications is delighted to announce its successful participation in the fourth Small Cell LTE Plugfest organized by Small Cell Forum (SCF), in partnership with ETSI, from June 27 to July 08 in Naples, Italy. Taking place in the Telecom Italia/TIM’s specialist labs, the Plugfest enabled key players and suppliers in the small cell marketplace to test their products and solutions for interoperability and reliability in mixed vendor environments.
The two-week Plugfest provided the opportunity for remote testing as well as collaborative work in the TIM Labs. The Plugfest had a special focus on the self-organizing network (SON) capabilities of small cells in a HetNet environment, as well as looking at other areas including traffic offloading, closed subscriber groups, and the impact of LTE-A aggregation.
The work AirHop has undertaken at the Plugfest builds on the experience of recent operator commercial deployments of its flagship eSON solution. As an industry leader in HetNet SON, AirHop is leveraging the Plugfest to validate its multi-vendor and interoperability support. Specifically, eSON was used by several small cell solution partners at the event, showcasing the multi-vendor support. The SON focused Plugfest also enabled AirHop to validate inter-vendor SON coordination with macro cells and other small cell SON vendors.
Specifically, AirHop and its small cell partners performed more than 250 total test cases including more that 160 SON specific tests which performed at 95% and 94.5% success rates, respectively. The SON success rate was consistent across each of the Plugfest targeted SON features of automated Physical Cell Identity (PCI), Automated Neighbor Relations (ANR) and Mobility Robustness Optimization (MRO).
